Cote d’Ivoire’s Energy Minister Holds Fruitful Discussions with Sierra Leonean Counterpart

Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Mining, Oil and Energy, Mr. Thomas Camara, has held fruitful discussions with his Sierra Leonean counterpart, Alhaji Kanja Sesay who is in Côte d’Ivoire as part of a delegation headed by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh.

The two energy ministers had a fruitful interactive and experience sharing session during which they discussed bilateral relations and the critical issue of the TRANSCO CLSG interconnection.

Mr. Sesay briefed his Ivorian counterpart on the progress Sierra Leone had made with respect to the regional power project and also stressed the need for the two ministries of energy to forge a very strong technical partnership.

For his part, Mr. Camara said he was happy to have Alhaji Kanja Sesay in his country on a very important assignment, adding that he was impressed with the work Mr. Sesay had done particularly in seeing to it that Sierra Leone’s side of the CLSG bargain was fulfilled.

He said Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire had a long-standing bilateral relations, noting that his visit to Mr. Sesay was taking place exactly 25 years to the day when his country played host to parties that signed Sierra Leone’s first peace agreement on November 30, 1996.
